About 417 Chalk Art
417 Chalk Art is led by Ashley Wright, known professionally as The Wright Artist. Ashley is a chalk artist and visual artist specializing in detailed chalk art, street painting, murals, window painting, and custom commissioned work for businesses, events, schools, and community spaces.
Ashley’s journey into chalk art began in 2015 after she discovered a local art contest during a deeply personal season of loss. Following the passing of her mother, she entered the contest as a tribute to her memory and created a swan painting that marked the beginning of her path as a professional chalk artist.
Her work quickly gained attention from local festivals, where she was invited to participate as a featured artist. That exposure led to commissioned work for businesses and organizations, including national brand Lululemon and local Texas favorites such as Lumi Snow, Muggle Shakes, and Flower Market on 7th Street.
In addition to her chalk art and commissioned projects, Ashley’s artwork has been featured in respected venues including Oxide Art Gallery and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth. Her chalk pastel piece, “Love is Love,” was selected as a finalist for The Hunting Art Prize and displayed during the annual Art Gala in 2015.
Today, through 417 Chalk Art, Ashley brings her creativity, technical skill, and eye for memorable visual design to Joplin, Southwest Missouri, and the surrounding 4-States region. Whether creating a storefront window, festival chalk piece, business mural, or custom event installation, her goal is to create artwork that draws attention, tells a story, and leaves a lasting impression.
